This event was only discovered by myself last week and purely by chance while searching for pictures of cars in an attempt to identify a particular make that we had seen earlier in the day. The search led us to a site with upcoming car events and this one took my eye. It turned out to be a relatively local event, just outside of Stroud, and is now in its third year.

It's set in the grounds of St. Roses school which, in their words, is: "a community in which freedom, justice and love permeate the daily life of the school. It is an inspirational Catholic School with outstanding provision for the education, care and therapy of children with physical disabilities and complex health needs."

Wheelnuts 2009 managed to raise over £10,000 last year which went towards improving the facilities and towards raising £1.1 million to build a hydrotherapy pool at the school. Last year they had just over 450 cars attend, this year they were aiming for over 500. I'm not sure what to final tally was, but there was ceratinly a superb showing from private individuals and from various owners clubs.

Together with the cars, there was a good showing of classic bikes, a modern car or two, stalls selling food, plants and car related bits and pieces and lots of entertainment for children.

The sheer variety of the cars on show was bewildering. With some being so unusual (to me!), I'll try to remember what all of them are. So, in no particular order:

A superb event. If it's being held next year this is one that I will definitely be visiting again.

This really should be publisised more heavily for next year, it was brilliant.

It does indeed look good.

The last car in your report is a Daimler. The clue is the fluted top to the radiator grille, which all Daimlers had. The pedant might just notice that you have a Mark 2 Ford Zodiac under the Vauxhall heading, too.

There are loads of events up and down the country where people bring along their prized possessions, just so others can enjoy them. Definitely worth us trying a few more.

Looks like you had rather better weather than I was blessed with in Spain, too!

Thanks for that Colin, it was hard work trying to remember the marques let alone the models! There must of been well over 500 cars there. A really good event and only £3 to get in, if it wasn't for the GP I'd of spent a lot longer there.

That does look like an interesting event, with many more exhibits than I'd have expected.

That white SD1 isn't the one that Keith Adams has had restored (in Poland) at great expense, is it? I have a feeling it's not, but it looks very similar.

It wasn't, this was a very early mark 1 V8, it used to be yellow.

Looks great. There must have been a few motoring events on today. On my way back from Cheshire I spotted a whole bunch of classic Fords, various race liveried cars on and off trailors and a few buggys of the spannerman nature.
